Bruce and Duncan Harkess of Alpine TrekBruce and Duncan Harkness spent their early years in Australia. During this time they discovered the outdoors and explored some of Australia’s most beautiful and remote bush land. They are qualified International Mountain Leaders and obtained their qualifications from the National Mountain Center in the United Kingdom. They are affiliated with the UIMLA http://www.uimla.org/  and are members of the British Association of International Mountain Leaders http://www.baiml.org/

Bruce has a Bachelor of Arts from Edith Cowan University & a Masters of Science from Sheffield Hallam University. He has also spent four years as a Lieutenant in the Australian Army and is an accredited Bushwalking Guide for difficult & trackless areas http://www.outdoorcouncil.asn.au/

Bruce and Duncan Harkess of Alpine TrekHaving lived in Europe he has gained extensive experience leading groups in the mountains of Britain and the European Alps in all seasons. His passion for the outdoors has taken him to locations such as the Yosemite and the Himalayan mountains of Nepal.

In addition to his experience in the outdoors, Bruce has spent over 15 years working with international companies in human resources and corporate education.

Duncan has spent many years working in the Corporate Security & Surveillance industry in Australia, UK, Europe and former Eastern European countries. He has a degree in Business Management and Computer Programming.

Duncan’s passion for the mountain environment motivated him to qualify as a International Mountain Leader. He has wide-ranging experience trekking and camping in some of the most stunning and remote areas of Australia, UK, Canada and the European Alps. He has also climbed extensively in the European Alps and completed a number of first ascents in Greece.
